Choose a shipping route for your parcel

Use the packed contents, dimensions and destination to compare the routes currently offered by the agent.

Shipping: compare routes for the packed parcel

Write down the destination country and postcode, each item type, packed weight and outer dimensions. Mention batteries, liquids or other contents that may restrict the route. Ask whether the quote uses actual weight, volumetric weight or a minimum charge.

A soft jacket and a rigid bag may weigh little but occupy different amounts of space. Compare the quoted chargeable weight after packing, not just the sum of product weights.

Compare what the quote includes

  • Does the route accept every item in the parcel?
  • Which packing and optional services are included?
  • Where does tracking start, and which carrier makes the final delivery?
  • What happens if the parcel is returned or damaged, and what evidence is required?

Submit, then keep the tracking record

Check your address, recipient name and phone number in the official service. Save the parcel number, route name and payment receipt. After dispatch, follow the tracking number supplied for the parcel, including a new final-mile number if one is issued.

If tracking stops changing, send the parcel number and last scan to the agent. On receipt, retain packaging and photograph damage or missing contents before discarding anything. Use the problem checklist.

Customs, tax and delivery estimates

Check which contents the route accepts and what import information it requires for your destination. Ask whether taxes or clearance services are included in the quote. Resolve a missing restriction or charge before submitting the parcel.

Ask which event starts a delivery estimate and whether it includes warehouse processing, customs and final delivery. A range is not an arrival appointment. Keep the route name and tracking history so support can investigate the actual parcel if scans stop changing.
